Accepted Answer

30 to 35 years

Question 2

How does climate differ from weather?

Accepted Answer

Climate represents long-term patterns (30-35 years), while weather refers to daily atmospheric conditions.

Question 3

Which of the following crops is best suited to the drier savannah climate of northern Nigeria according to the lesson?

Accepted Answer

Which of the following physiological processes in plants is directly influenced by temperature?

Accepted Answer

Photosynthesis, respiration, and transpiration

Question 6

What term describes plants that require short daylight periods to flower?

Accepted Answer

Short-day plants

Question 7

How does moderate wind benefit crops like maize?

Accepted Answer

It aids in pollination and carbon dioxide circulation.

Question 8

What is the term used to describe the blowing over or flattening of crops caused by strong winds or storms?

Accepted Answer

Lodging

Question 9

What happens to the rate of transpiration in plants when relative humidity is very high?

Accepted Answer

Transpiration is reduced.

Question 10

Although atmospheric pressure does not directly affect plant growth visibly, why is it important in agriculture?

Accepted Answer

It determines wind speed and direction, influencing weather systems.

Question 11

Climate change is defined as a significant, long-term alteration in global or regional climate patterns observed over what duration?

Accepted Answer

Several decades or longer

Question 12

How do volcanic eruptions act as a natural cause of climate change?

Accepted Answer

They release greenhouse gases and dust that can cause temporary cooling and long-term warming.

Question 13

Why does deforestation contribute significantly to the accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere?

Accepted Answer

Forests act as carbon sinks, and clearing them reduces the absorption of carbon dioxide.

Question 14

Which agricultural practice is a major source of methane $ (CH_4) $ emissions?

Accepted Answer

Flooded rice paddies and livestock rearing

Question 15

The excessive use of which agricultural input releases nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas?
