The 2026 BECE results are not released through one single national portal for every JSS3 candidate in Nigeria. States and their examination bodies publish results separately, which means a candidate in Lagos may have a completely different checking process and release date from a candidate in Rivers, Kaduna or Benue.

September has brought a wave of confirmed state releases. Lagos, Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Kaduna and Benue are among states with 2026 BECE result announcements now available through state authorities or recognised examination channels. Candidates and parents should use the process for the state where the examination was taken, not a generic website claiming to check BECE for the whole country.

Confirmed State-by-State Updates

Lagos: The Lagos State Examinations Board announced the release of the 2026 BECE results, with candidates, parents and schools able to access and print results through the official BECE examination portal from September 28. The Board has warned users to rely on authorised channels rather than unverified result sites.

Rivers: The Rivers State Ministry of Education released the 2026 BECE results on September 16 and directed heads of public and private schools to access their schools’ results through the Rivers State Education Management Information System from September 18. The Ministry also said arrangements were being made for hard-copy certificates and that the certificates would be issued to schools free of charge.

Oyo: Oyo State announced the release of its 2026 BECE results alongside the entrance results for the State Schools of Science on September 20. Candidates and stakeholders were directed to the designated channels provided by the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Delta: Delta State reported that 97,817 candidates sat its 2026 BECE, with 85,049 recording passes. Another 12,241 candidates were scheduled for resit, while 527 were unsuccessful. The examination had been conducted from June 1 to June 5.

Kaduna: Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority announced the release of the 2026 BECE results on September 4 for both CBT and paper-and-pen candidates, directing schools and candidates to its official portal and public notice for access procedures.

Benue: Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examination Board made available the results it had processed for schools that submitted the required cumulative Continuous Assessment scores. Schools that had not completed the CA requirement were given a final compliance window before production of the official Gazette.

Why Parents Should Verify the Correct Portal Before Paying Anyone

BECE result scams are easy to create because the examination is decentralised. A website can claim to provide “Nigeria BECE results” even though access is actually controlled by a state examination board, education ministry or school account. Parents should therefore confirm the official state process before entering a candidate number, making a payment or handing over login credentials.

Where results are delivered through schools rather than directly to students, parents should contact the school first. Some state platforms are designed for school administrators and may not provide a public candidate login. Resit instructions, certificate collection and transition into senior secondary school can also vary from state to state.

This 2026 BECE results tracker should therefore be read as a state-by-state guide, not a single national result release. Candidates should follow the latest announcement from their own state and keep copies of the result or printout required for progression to the next stage of secondary education.

State-by-state 2026 BECE result routes confirmed so far

BECE is not released through one national result portal in Nigeria. Each participating state or state examination authority controls its own release, access method, resit rules and certificate process. That is why candidates should never pay a site that claims to be a universal “Nigeria BECE checker.” The correct route depends on the state where the candidate sat the examination.

  • Lagos: results are available through bece.examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng. The Lagos State Examinations Board says candidates can access and print their 2026 results through the authorised portal.
  • Rivers: the Rivers State Ministry of Education released the results and directed heads of public and private schools to access their school results through RIVEMIS from September 18. The Ministry says hard-copy certificates will later be issued to schools free of charge.
  • Kaduna: the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority announced results for both CBT and paper-and-pen candidates and directs candidates/schools to kssqaa.org.
  • Oyo: the state announced the 2026 BECE result together with the entrance result for Oyo State Schools of Science. The Ministry said results are available through its designated channels. Candidates should use the state Ministry/school route rather than a generic checker.
  • Delta: the state reported 97,817 candidates sat, 85,049 passed, 12,241 were scheduled for resit and 527 were unsuccessful. Candidates should obtain the official result through the state/school route used for the examination.
  • Benue: the Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examination Board made processed results available online for schools that had submitted the required cumulative Continuous Assessment data. Schools that failed to provide CA scores could not expect a complete processed result at the same stage.

What parents should do when their state is not listed

Start with the candidate’s school and the state Ministry of Education or examinations board. Ask for the exact 2026 BECE result portal or school-login process and whether the result is released directly to candidates or only to school administrators. Do not assume that a portal used by Lagos, Rivers or Kaduna applies to another state.

Also check whether the state has announced resit conditions. Some states require a resit when a candidate fails English, Mathematics or both; others use different progression rules. The result-release notice should therefore be read together with the state’s own instructions about progression, resit and certificate collection.

SurePass should treat this as a living tracker: as additional state examination boards release results or publish direct candidate portals, those states can be added with the exact official route rather than forcing readers to search through multiple unofficial education blogs.
