Carewave Foundation has opened applications for 20 undergraduate awards under its ASPIRE Scholarship Programme, offering successful Nigerian students ₦500,000 per year toward university costs.

The Carewave ASPIRE Scholarship is both merit- and need-based. The Foundation says applicants must be Nigerian citizens, aged between 18 and 25, enrolled in an eligible Federal University in Nigeria and able to demonstrate genuine financial need.

The academic threshold is high: the official scholarship page lists a minimum GPA of 4.5 on a 5.0 scale. The scheme covers students across health and medical sciences, technology, engineering, science, environment and food systems, business, economics and finance, law and governance, social sciences, communication and humanities.

Carewave says the ₦500,000 award is paid yearly and is intended to support tuition as well as living costs. The first award covers one academic year, after which recipients are assessed for renewal based on academic performance and compliance with the programme’s requirements.

The Foundation lists 20 available awards for the current cycle. It also says the programme is intended for students from vulnerable or financially disadvantaged communities, meaning strong grades alone do not settle the application.

The document requirement is unusually detailed. Applicants are expected to submit an admission letter, two recommendation letters, JAMB admission letter, JAMB result slip, WAEC or NECO result, birth certificate, Local Government identification, NIMC slip, a motivation letter and evidence of financial need.

Applications are completed only through the Carewave Foundation website. The official page at carewavefoundation.org provides the Apply Now route and warns that incomplete applications will not be considered.

The application deadline is November 9, 2026. Carewave lists scholarships@cwfms.org for scholarship enquiries.

Students should pay attention to the difference between admission eligibility and scholarship eligibility. A candidate may be properly admitted to a Federal University and still fail the scholarship test because of age, GPA, missing documents or insufficient evidence of financial need.

The Foundation describes the scheme as more than a one-off cash award, promising scholarship recipients access to mentorship, leadership development, career guidance and professional networking. Renewal, however, is not automatic; students will be reviewed after the academic session.
