We Are Children of God

God is our Father because He created everyone. The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:27 that God created human beings in His own image. This means He made us special, just like Him in many ways, even though we are not God.

When we believe in Jesus, God gives us the right to become His children. John 1:12 says that to all who received Jesus and believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. This makes God our Heavenly Father.

Being a child of God means we belong to His family. Just as children have a father on earth, we also have a Father in heaven who loves us very much.

Our Role as Children of God

As children of God, we have important things to do. These actions show our love and respect for our Heavenly Father.

Our roles as children of God include:

  1. Worship God: We should praise God and thank Him for all He does. We can worship Him by singing songs, dancing, and telling others how good He is.

  2. Talk to God in Prayer: Just as children talk to their earthly fathers, we can talk to God through prayer. We can tell Him our needs, our thanks, and our worries. He always listens.

  3. Obey God’s Laws: God gives us rules in the Bible to help us live good lives. Obeying His laws shows that we love Him and want to please Him. For example, God tells us to love one another and to be kind.

God’s Role as Our Father

God, as our Father, does many wonderful things for us. He takes care of us in special ways, just like a good earthly father takes care of his children.

God’s roles as our Father include:

  1. He Protects: God keeps us safe from harm. He watches over us day and night. Psalm 23 tells us that the Lord is our Shepherd, and He leads us and protects us.

  2. He Cares: God cares about everything that happens to us. He knows when we are happy or sad, and He wants the best for us. He is always there to comfort us.

  3. He Provides: God gives us everything we need to live. He provides food for us to eat, water to drink, and shelter to keep us safe. Genesis 2:7-16 shows how God provided for Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, giving them food and a home. He also provides clothes and other good things.

  4. He Guides: God shows us the right way to live. He gives us wisdom and helps us make good choices. Through His Word, the Bible, and through wise people, He guides us so we can follow His path.
