Jesus Wants Us to Love God
Jesus teaches us that the most important thing is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Loving God means showing Him how much we care about Him.
We can show our love for God in many ways. These include:
- Obeying God’s Rules: God gives us rules in the Bible to help us live well. When we obey these rules, we show that we love Him.
- Praying to God: Talking to God every day shows that we trust Him and want to be close to Him. We can pray to thank Him, ask for help, or just tell Him about our day.
- Thanking God: God gives us many good things like food, family, friends, and sunshine. When we thank Him for these gifts, we show our love.
- Listening to God’s Word: Reading the Bible or listening to Bible stories helps us learn more about God and what He wants for us. This is a way of loving Him.

Jesus Commands Us to Love One Another
Jesus also wants us to love the people around us. This means loving our family, friends, classmates, and even people we do not know very well. When we love one another, we are showing that we are followers of Jesus.
Loving one another means doing good things for others. Some ways to show love to others include:
- Sharing: When we share our toys, food, or other things with others, we show love.
- Helping: Helping our parents with chores, helping a friend with schoolwork, or helping someone who is sad shows love.
- Being Kind: Speaking kind words, smiling, and being gentle with others are ways to show love. We should not be rude or mean.
- Forgiving: When someone does something wrong to us, it is important to forgive them. Forgiving means letting go of anger and being friends again.
- Not Fighting: Love means trying to solve problems without fighting or quarrelling. We should try to be peaceful with everyone.
Qualities of Christian Love
The Bible tells us what true Christian love looks like. It is not just a feeling; it is how we act towards others. Some important qualities of Christian love are:
- Love is Patient: This means waiting calmly and not getting angry easily. When someone is slow or makes a mistake, love helps us to be patient with them.
- Love is Kind: Being kind means being friendly, generous, and thoughtful towards others. It means doing good things for them.
- Love is Not Selfish: Love thinks about others first, not just about what we want. It means sharing and caring for others’ needs.
- Love is Not Rude: Love teaches us to be polite and respectful to everyone, no matter who they are.
- Love Does Not Keep a Record of Wrongs: This means love forgives and does not remember all the bad things someone has done. It gives people a fresh start.
Why Jesus Wants Us to Love
Jesus wants us to love because God Himself is love. The Bible tells us that God is love, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
Here are the reasons why Jesus wants us to love:
- God is Love: When we love, we are acting like God. God created us to be like Him, and love is a big part of His nature.
- To Show We Belong to God: When we love others, it shows that we are God’s children and that we know Him. Our love for others is a sign that we follow Jesus.
- To Live Happily: When everyone loves each other, there is peace and joy. Loving makes our homes, schools, and communities better and happier places to live.
