Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Bible Reading

The Bible tells us about God and Jesus. Reading the Bible helps us to know God better. The following passages are important for this lesson:

  1. Matthew 21:28-31a
  2. John 14:6-7

The Teachings of Jesus

Jesus came to earth to show us how to live and how to know God. He taught us many important things. These teachings help us understand God our Father.

Jesus Teaches Us to Obey God

Jesus taught us that it is important to obey God. Obeying God means doing what He asks us to do. In the Bible, Jesus told a story about two sons. One son said he would not work in the vineyard, but later he went. The other son said he would go, but he did not. Jesus showed that the son who actually did the work was the one who obeyed. This story is found in Matthew 21:28-31a.

When we obey God, we show Him that we love Him.

Jesus Teaches Us to Love God

Jesus taught that loving God is the most important thing. We show our love for God by obeying His commands and by loving others. God loves us very much, and He wants us to love Him back with all our heart.

Jesus Teaches Us to Worship God

Worship is a way of showing God how much we honour and respect Him. Jesus taught us to worship God. We can worship God by singing songs, praying, and thanking Him for all His goodness. When we worship, we focus our hearts on God.

Jesus Teaches Us to Serve God

Serving God means using our time, talents, and strength to do good things for Him and for others. Jesus showed us how to serve God by helping people and teaching them about God’s love. When we serve others, we are serving God.

Jesus’ Teachings About God in the Gospel

The Gospel tells us about Jesus’ life and teachings. Through Jesus, we learn more about God our Father.

Prayer as a Way of Discovering God

Prayer is talking to God. Jesus taught us to pray to God our Father. When we pray, we can tell God our thoughts, feelings, and needs. We can also thank Him and praise Him. Prayer helps us to feel closer to God and understand Him better.

Listening to Bible Teachings as a Way of Discovering God

The Bible is God’s word. Jesus taught us to listen to the teachings in the Bible. When we listen to Bible stories and lessons, we learn about God’s character, His plans, and His love for us. This helps us to discover who God is and what He wants for our lives.

Important Places to Learn Jesus’ Teachings About God

There are many good places where children can learn about Jesus’ teachings and discover God. These places help us grow in our faith and understanding:

  1. Catechism: This is a special class where children learn about Christian beliefs and teachings.
  2. Sunday School: This is a class held in church, usually on Sundays, where children learn Bible stories and lessons.
  3. Bible Clubs: These are groups where children meet to read the Bible, play games, and learn about God.
  4. School: In Christian Religious Studies (CRS) classes at school, children learn about Jesus and God.
