Meaning of Iman
Iman means faith or belief in Allah and all that He has revealed.
It is a strong belief in the heart, spoken by the tongue, and shown through good actions. Having Iman means trusting in Allah and following His guidance.
Memory Verse
The Qur’an teaches us about Iman. A very important verse about faith is from Surah Al-Baqarah:
Surah Al-Baqarah (2):285
The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers. [They say], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.”
The Six Articles of Faith
The Articles of Faith are the six main things a Muslim must believe in. These beliefs are the foundation of Iman.
The six Articles of Faith are:
-
Belief in Allah: This means believing that Allah is the One and Only God, the Creator of everything. He has no partner and nothing is like Him.
-
Belief in Angels: This means believing that Allah created angels from light. Angels are servants of Allah who obey all His commands. They do not eat, drink, or sleep.
-
Belief in Messengers: This means believing that Allah sent many prophets and messengers to guide people. They taught people to worship Allah alone. Some of them are Prophet Adam, Prophet Nuh, Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Musa, Prophet Isa, and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them all).
-
Belief in Scriptures: This means believing that Allah sent holy books to His messengers. These books contain Allah’s words and guidance for mankind. Examples include the Tawrat (Torah), Zabur (Psalms), Injil (Gospel), and the Holy Qur’an.
-
Belief in the Last Day: This means believing that one day, the world will end, and everyone will be brought back to life. On that day, Allah will judge everyone for their deeds, and people will go to Jannah (Paradise) or Jahannam (Hell).
-
Belief in Qadr (Pre-destination): This means believing that Allah knows everything that will happen, and He has planned everything. Both good and bad things happen by Allah’s will, and we should trust in His wisdom.

- Repeat each name slowly, trying to say it correctly.
- Say the English meaning after each Arabic name.
- Practice saying the names in order, one by one.
- Try to remember at least five names each day until all thirty-three are known.
