High-scoring 2026 admission candidates could receive substantial tuition support at Nile University of Nigeria, but the headline figure comes with strict conditions. Under the Nile University scholarship 2026/2027 policy, applicants to most undergraduate programmes can qualify for percentage scholarships based on JAMB and O’Level performance, while an exceptional combination can earn a 100 per cent scholarship.
The standard JAMB-based scholarships apply to undergraduate programmes except Law and Medicine. Nile lists a 10 per cent scholarship at a JAMB score of 275, 20 per cent at 300 and 30 per cent at 320. Five A1 grades in the required O’Level subjects can also qualify an applicant for a 10 per cent award.
The biggest award is for candidates who combine a JAMB score of 350 or above with at least five A grades in O’Level. Nile says applicants who meet that combination are eligible for a 100 per cent scholarship, subject to its scholarship rules, quotas and approval.
The Small Print Matters: Not Every Five A1 Result Qualifies
Nile says the qualifying A grades must include Mathematics, English Language and the core subjects directly relevant to the chosen degree. For an engineering applicant, for example, the A grades would need to include the relevant science subjects rather than five unrelated subjects.
The university also states that external WAEC and NECO results are not accepted for this scholarship criterion. In addition, JAMB and O’Level results must come from the academic year in which admission is offered. Candidates cannot combine results from different academic years or submit an older result simply because it produces a stronger scholarship profile.
Scholarship places are limited by quota and availability and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis after eligibility is established. The scholarship is not automatically attached forever: recipients must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.50 at the end of each academic session and remain in good standing under university regulations.
Applicants cannot stack several scholarships or discounts. If a candidate qualifies under more than one criterion, the university says the applicant must use the option that offers the highest benefit. Scholarships and discounts also do not cover hostel fees.
How to Start the Admission and Scholarship Process
Prospective undergraduate students can begin through Nile’s official Undergraduate Screening Portal. Candidates should first confirm that the intended course is eligible for the scholarship category and that the 2026 JAMB/O’Level record meets the required threshold.
- Read the current Nile University Scholarships & Discounts policy.
- Open the undergraduate screening portal and complete the university’s admission-screening process.
- Keep your 2026 JAMB and O’Level result documents ready and make sure the names/details are consistent.
- After admission processing, request/apply for the scholarship at the point of entry using the route provided by Nile. The university says scholarships are not applied retrospectively.
- Retain any scholarship offer or approval document and remember the 3.50 CGPA condition for renewal.
Nile also offers A-Level-based awards: three A grades from Nile’s School of Preliminary Studies can attract 25 per cent, while three A grades from other accepted A-Level routes attract 10 per cent; two A grades can attract 15 per cent for Nile SPS or 5 per cent for other routes. Separate postgraduate, sport and sibling discounts also exist.
For candidates targeting the top award, the crucial point is that a 350+ JAMB score alone is not enough. The Nile University scholarship 2026/2027 reaches 100 per cent only when the JAMB performance is paired with the required current-year O’Level A grades and the university’s other scholarship conditions.
